NextView 4 Differences of the versions

Versions

The slight difference

The following table shows the basic differences of the available versions of NextView®4.
The free trial features all functions of the Professional version. It is valid for 30 days after requesting the license number. If a license is not purchased within this period, the functional range of NextView®4 will considerably be cut back.

A detailed overview of the different versions is provided as PDF file.

NextView 4 DAQ hardware

DAQ hardware

Supported hardware

NextView®4 supports the complete range of bmcm data acquisition hardware currently available. This includes external DAQ systems, which are connected to the PC or laptop via the relating interface, as well as measuring cards installed in the PC.

USB data acquisition systems

The USB 2.0 compatible devices from bmcm are ideal for mobile use. Being Plug&Play compatible, both installation and changing the hardware can be done fast and easily. The devices are supplied by the PC.

LAN data acquisition systems

The network technology of bmcm guarantees fast and reliable transmission of measuring data. Signals can be recorded distributedly across great distances. Signals of several LAN data acquisition systems are synchronizable.

PCI-/PCIe data acquistion cards

The measuring cards of bmcm installed in the PC are highly resistant against interferences. Choosing plug-on modules for the PCI(e)-BASE allows the individual adaption of the DAQ system to the measuring task. The short latency of the PCI(e) interface makes the cards especially attractive for controlling task.

Archived DAQ hardware of bmcm

Not available at bmcm anymore but still compatible with NextView®4: "Retired" USB, LAN, and PCI data aquisition systems of bmcm supported by a previous NextView® version can still be used (except: PCI-BASE50).

NextView 4 File formats

File formats

Standard formats

NextView®4 generates the following file types when realizing a measurement task:

  • Project file (.nvp): information about the layout of the user interface and the signal representation in the respective displays
  • Configuration file (.nvc): settings concerning a scan and the DAQ hardware used
  • Measuring file (.lfx): contains recorded signals and results of a signal analysis
  • Script file (.nvs): event-oriented script programs to automate processes and realisize individual applications (only with NextView®4 Script)

Import

The following file formats can be opened in NextView®4 and be shown as graphic curves:

  • NextView®4.x or NextView®/NT 3.x: .lfx
  • NextView® (DOS): .buf, .bfs, .bfx
  • DIAdem or TurboLab DAFF: .dat
  • ModuLab: .tsf
  • ASCII file (e.g. Excel®, WordPad, Notepad): .asc
  • Text file (e.g. Excel®, WordPad, Notepad): .txt
  • Data base files: .mdb

Export

Use and process your measuring results received with NextView®4 in other programs by exporting recorded signals or sections of a signal:

  • NextView®4.x or NextView®/NT 3.4: .lfx
  • DIAdem or TurboLab DAFF: .dat
  • ASCII file (e.g. Excel®, WordPad, Notepad): .asc
  • Text file (e.g. Excel®, WordPad, Notepad): .txt

With the C++ Data PlugIn of National Instruments™ you can directly open NextView®4 measuring files in DIAdem.
